A
Aces Full: A full house with three aces and a random pair
Ace-High: A hand with five cards which contains one ace- without straight, flush or a pair
Active Player: A player which is still active in a hand
All-In: When a player bets all his money. In online poker it could happen that you would go All-in if you do not click fast enough- but it simply means that you are in the pot until you fall asleep
American Airlines: Two aces
Ante Money: which you bet before the game begins
B
Bad Beat: When a big hand is beaten by a lucky flop, turn or river
Bet: To bet
Bet the Pot: When a player bets the same amount as the whole pot
Big Blind: A set amount which the the player in the 2nd position from the dealer has to bet- without having seen his cards. When you sit down at a table, you will be asked to place the Big Blind despite the fact that you are not sitting in this position.
Big Slick: A starting hand with Ace and King
Blind: The bets the two players to the left of the dealer has to make before having seen their cards
Blind Raise: When a player raises before having seen his cards
Bluff: To get a player believe that your cards is better than they are- betting/raising with bad cards
Board cards: The cards in the middle of the table that are shared by everyone
Bottom Pair When you make a pair on the flop with the lowest card on the board and one of your hole cards. The other cards on the board are referred to as "over cards" and may give another player the "middle pair" or "top pair".
Bring-In: A forced bet made by the player with the lowest cards in the first round in Seven Card Stud
Bullets: A pair of aces
Button: A small plastic disc called the "dealer button" to indicate who is effectively the dealer. After the flop, the dealer is the last person to act in a round of betting. Being "on the button" is a good position as you are the last person to decide to call, raise or fold.
Buy-In: The minimum amount which is required to sit down at a table
C
Call: To bet an amount only equal to the previous bet.
Call Cold: A cold call is a call against a pot that has already been bet and raised
Cap: In limit poker the cap is the maximum amount of raises allowed in each betting round. A common cap seen in online poker games is 4 bets per round (one bet and three raises)
Cash-out: To leave a game and get the chips paid out in real money
Check: In a betting round, if there are no previous bets or raises on a hand, players can "check" the hand and continue to play without wagering any more money
Check-Raise: A player "checks" the hand, to see what his opponents play will be, but has every intention of re-raising if his opponent raises him.
Collusion: Collusion is a form of cheating. Players will work in a team to try to gain an advantage over the other players
Community Cards: The 5 cards that are dealt on to the table that the "community" of players can use to make their best five (5) card hand
Cowboys: A starting hand with a pair of kings
D
Door Card: The first card shown from a players hand in a stud game.
Down Card: Hole cards. Cards which is dealt face -down. They are not visible to the other players.
Draw Lowbal:l A poker game where all the players gets 5 cards with the possibility of exchange one or more cards.
Drop: To Fold
Ducks: A pair of 2s
Deuces: A pair of 2s

Early Position Being one of the first players to act in a betting round.
F
Face-down: Cards which only can be seen by yourself
Face-up: Cards which can be seen by all the players
Fifth Street: The fifth dealt community card, more commonly known as the "river" card.
Five-card Draw: A poker game where every player gets 5 cards face-down. You can exchange the cards one time, after which the player with the best hand wins the pot
Five-card Stud: A poker game where every player gets 1 card face-down and 4 cards face-up, the betting is made after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th card
Flat Call: To call without raising
Flop: The first three face up community cards in Hold'em poker. First three board cards.
Flop Games: Poker games (Texas and Omaha) where the game is played with community cards, which is placed on the middle of the table and is visible to all
Flush: A poker hand with 5 cards of the same suit
Flush Draw: When a player has 4 cards in the same suit and hopes for the 5th card to a flush
Fold: To leave the hand, throw the cards away
Forced Bet: A forced bet which starts the first round
Four of a Kind: Four of a kind is a poker hand with four cards of the same rank
Fourth Street: The fourth dealt community card, more commonly known as the "turn" card.
Full House: A poker hand consisting of a three-of-a-kind and a pair. Also known as "boat" or "full boat"

Gut Shot: An inside straight draw
H
Hand: A players best 5 cards
High-Card: In any round of poker no player makes a ranking hand (pairs or better) then the person with the highest card "High Card" wins.
I
Inside Straight: A draw to a straight with a single missing rank in the inter
K
Kansas Lowball: A variant of Lowball Poker, where the worst hand (2-3-4-5-6-7 in different colours) is the best hand. It is also called Deuces to Seven
Key Card: A card that gives a player a big draw or makes a player's hand
Key Hand: A key hand which in a tournament changes the game for a player
Kicker: The highest card in a hand which is not a pair
Kojak: A starting hand with King and Jack
L
Ladies: Two queens
Late Position: When you are one of the last to act in turn
Lead :The first player who is going to act in turn
Limit Poker: Poker with set betting limits
Limper: The first player who calls a bet
Limp In: A player "limps in" if he does not bet or raise, and only calls the big blind.
Live Blind: When a player who has made a blind bet, has to raise in spite of nobody else have raised
Live Hand: A hand which still has the possibility of winning the hand
Loose: A player who plays a lot of hands
Lowball: A poker game where the lowest hand wins the pot
M
Main Pot: This is the main pot. If someone goes All-in the money will be put away in a side pot- The game will now continue with a new main pot. The All-in player can only win the side pot
Maniac: Nickname for a player who is very loose and/or plays aggressively
Middle Position: Somewhere between the early and late positions on a round of betting
Monster: A very good hand
N
No Limit: A betting structure in which there is no maximum bet
Nuts: The nuts is an unbeatable hand, there is no other hand that could win
O
Odds: The odds to win
Off suit: A hold'em starting hand with two cards of different suits
Omaha: A poker game where every player get 4 cards face-down and 5 community cards on the table. You have to use 2 of your own cards and 3 of the community cards to make your poker hand
Open: To open the game
Open-ended straight: Four cards to a straight, example 4567, drawing to either end of the straight
Open Card: A card which is dealt face-up. Visible to all
Open Pair: A pair on the board which everyone can see
Out Button: A piece which is in front of a player who is sitting out one round but who has not left the game
P
Pair: A pair is two cards of the same rank
Pass: To fold
Pay Off: To call in the last round of betting without knowing if you are going to win or loose
Playing the Board: In hold'em if the five board cards make up a better hand than the players hands
Post: When you put money in the pot
Pot: The pot in the middle of the table
Pot Limit: A betting structure in which the maximum size bet is the size of the pot plus the amount you would bet if you re-raised.
Put Down: To throw away your cards
Q
Quads: Four of a kind
Qualifier: In High-Low games, it is a requirement the Low hand must meet to win the pot
R
Rack: A rack of 100 poker chips with five stakes of 20
Raise: To raise a bet
Rake: This is the fee the poker rooms charge players. It is usually a percentage of the pot.
Rank: The value of every hand
Razz: Seven Card Stud where the lowest hand wins
Re-buy: A re-buy of chips in a tournament
Re-raise: To raise one who has raised before you
Ring Game: A live game, which is not a tournament
River: The fifth and last community board card, after the turn. Also called fifth street.
Royal Flush: The poker hand consisting of AKQJT of the same suit. The royal flush is the highest ranking poker hand possible. The poker hand consisting of AKQJT of the same suit. The royal flush is the highest ranking poker hand possible, the Ace high straight flush.

Satellite: A mini-tournament to gain an entry into a larger tournament
Second Pair: When you have the second best pair

Seven-card Stud: A variation of poker, where the players are dealt tree closed cards and four open
Seventh Street: The last round in Seven Card Stud
Showdown: When the remaining players show their cards and the winning hand takes the pot
Side Pot: In a multi-way pot, a side pot is created for other players if one player goes all-in. These other players’ bets and raises will go to the side pot, and only the players that participated in the side pot are eligible to win it.
Solid: A good poker player
Small Blind: The smaller of the two forced bets pre-flop. The player to the left of the dealer posts the small blind.
Split: When two players both have the same winning hand, they split the pot
Straight: A poker hand consisting of 5 cards in order of rank. For example, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Straight Flush: A poker hand consisting of 5 cards of the same suit and in order. A straight flush is a straight and a flush
Structure: The structure of blinds, bets and raises in a specific game
Stud Games: A variation of poker, where the player both get open and closed cards
T
Texas Hold’em: Also called Hold'em. A variation of poker, where the players have two open cards on their hand and five community cards on the table
Three of a Kind: A poker hand consisting of three cards of the same rank
Tight: Someone who does not play many hands. A tight game is a game where nothing happens
Top Pair: The player can use the highest card on the table to get a pair
Trips: Three of a kind
Turn: This is the fourth board card that comes out in hold’em, the card after the flop.
Two Pair: Two pair is a poker hand consisting of two pairs
U
Up card: A card faced up- every player can use it
W
Worst Hand: Lost Hand
